About The Position

Pennoni Associates is seeking a Mid-Level Bridge Engineer with 4-10 years of experience to work in their Lehigh Valley or Wyoming Valley, PA office. The role involves leading bridge and culvert rehabilitation and/or replacement design projects with limited supervision from senior engineers. Responsibilities include coordination with other disciplines, oversight of junior engineers, client interaction, proposal preparation, and completing various project submission tasks such as designs, load ratings, calculations, construction plans, specifications, estimates, and schedules. Construction services like shop drawing reviews and responding to RFIs are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • E.I. / E.I.T Required with the ability to obtain P.E. license with 12 months of joining Pennoni.
  • Working knowledge of PennDOT bridge design, analysis, and rating software.
  • Microstation CADD software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software.
  • Driving is a requirement of the position. A clean driving record is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Open Bridge Designer / Modeler a plus.
  • Municipal bridge engineer experience a plus.
  • Public speaking and classroom instruction a plus.
  • Experience assisting with project management a plus.
  • Knowledge of PennDOT project management process a plus.
  • Experience with Finite element modeling software is a plus.
  • NBIS bridge inspection experience and certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Leading bridge and culvert rehabilitation and/or replacement design projects with limited supervision and oversight from senior engineers.
  • Coordination with other disciplines (roadway, traffic, geotechnical, civil, environmental, etc.).
  • Oversight and supervision of other project and junior level engineers.
  • Attending meetings and interacting with clients.
  • Assisting in preparation of proposals for new work.
  • Completing bridge designs, load ratings, calculations, construction plans, specifications, estimates, and schedules required for project submissions (e.g. PennDOT Type, Size, and Location (TS&L) submissions, Final Plans submissions, and Final Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) package).
  • Construction services such as shop drawing reviews, responding to RFI’s, and general consultation with project contractors.
