About The Position

The Lead Staff Phlebotomist supports Miller-Keystone Blood Center by safely collecting blood and blood products from volunteer donors in a compassionate and professional manner. The position leads, mentors, and trains mobile-drive staff, helps ensure excellent customer service, and ensures staff follow procedures and represent the Blood Center appropriately. The role coordinates staff assignments and shift expectations and oversees the activities, supplies, and equipment needed for safe, smooth, and efficient collection events. The anticipated starting salary is $21.28 per hour and is commensurate with experience. The position reports directly to the Donor Collections Manager. Work hours may include shifts from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Staff work a variable schedule that may include early mornings, late nights, and on-call coverage for weekends and holidays; schedules are provided two weeks in advance. The first month of training takes place onsite at the blood center at 1465 Valley Center Parkway, Bethlehem, PA.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of experience as a phlebotomist.
At least 2 years of experience as a team lead in a healthcare setting.
Ability to handle difficult situations and people tactfully and professionally.
Ability to understand and use software relevant to the position.
Ability to solve problems and make decisions, seeking guidance as necessary.

Nice To Haves

Medical Assistant Certification or Phlebotomy Certification is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities
