About The Position

The Breastfeeding Peer Counselor supports the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program, primarily serving pregnant and breastfeeding clients at the Tapestry of Health WIC office in Lewistown. The role provides basic breastfeeding information and support and helps clients prevent and address common breastfeeding problems. Regular local travel within the region is required. Applicants should include their breastfeeding experience with their application.

Requirements

• Previous breastfeeding experience is required; it does not have to be current.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and organization skills.
• Ability to work independently or in conjunction with other staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in verbal and written forms.
• PA State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), FBI Criminal Record Check based on fingerprinting, and PA Child Abuse History Clearance (PACA) are required upon employment and as a condition of continued employment.
