About The Position

FHCCP is a private, not-for-profit organization coordinating public health grants across a 26-county region in central Pennsylvania. It is hiring two part-time Breastfeeding Peer Counselors to support the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program. The positions will primarily serve pregnant and breastfeeding clients at Tapestry of Health WIC offices in Bloomsburg, Shamokin, or Shamokin Dam. The primary office location may be established at the candidate’s preference among those three locations, with regular local travel within the region required, primarily between the three offices.

The counselor provides basic breastfeeding information and support to clients and helps them prevent and handle common breastfeeding problems. Previous breastfeeding experience is required, but the candidate does not have to be currently breastfeeding. Applicants are asked to include their breastfeeding experience with their application.

Requirements

• Previous breastfeeding experience is required; current breastfeeding is not required.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and organization skills.
• Ability to work independently or in conjunction with other staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in verbal and written forms.
• Regular local travel within the region is required.
• PA State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH) upon employment and as a condition of continued employment.
• FBI Criminal Record Check from fingerprinting upon employment and as a condition of continued employment.
• PA Child Abuse History Clearance (PACA) upon employment and as a condition of continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic breastfeeding information and support to clients.
• Help clients prevent and handle common breastfeeding problems.
• Travel locally within the region, primarily between Bloomsburg, Shamokin, and Shamokin Dam.
