Requirements

  • RDMS (BR) certification or one to three years’ experience with Breast Ultrasound
  • Must be able to perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards
  • Must be up to date with local and federal regulations that apply to their licensure and role
  • Must be able to review the patient history for any pertinent information
  • Must be able to communicate with the radiologist or referring MD if a protocol needs to be obtained or a test needs to be altered
  • Must be able to report malfunctioning equipment to the Ultrasound engineer
  • Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs.
  • Must have positive communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to new and various situations and procedures according to patient capability
  • Must be able to differentiate artifacts from anatomical or pathological structures and recognize any imaging abnormalities
  • Travel required: 0-25%
  • Full-time work with varying hours.
  • Weekend if needed to meet the department’s needs
  • Must be able to work with bio-hazardous materials

Responsibilities

  • Operates ultrasound equipment in accordance with organizational protocols
  • Position patients, using immobilization when necessary
  • Evaluate and present images to radiologists
  • Assist Radiologist with ultrasound procedures
  • Prepare exam/procedure rooms and equipment for studies, ensuring cleanliness
  • Monitor supplies and stockroom as needed
  • Obtain, verify, and document all pertinent information for patient visits and procedures, including patient clinical history, prior imaging, orders, and consents
  • Identify care requirements relative to each patient’s age-specific needs
  • Explain exams and procedures to patients
  • Provide post procedural care information and follow up instructions as directed by radiologists
  • Assist with onboarding and training new Diagnostic Mammography Technologists in ultrasound
  • Other duties as assigned
