About The Position

The Breakfast Attendant provides exceptional, efficient, and courteous service to guests in the hotel's complimentary breakfast area. The role involves greeting and seating guests, maintaining clean and well-stocked service areas, supporting food and beverage operations, preparing requested drinks, and answering guest questions about the hotel and local attractions. The attendant also performs cashiering, opening and closing procedures, side work, and other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
Willingness and ability to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must meet the legal age to serve alcoholic beverages and satisfactorily pass a responsible serving course such as TIPs, as required by the property.
Must be able to obtain and provide a Food Handlers card as required by the applicable city, county, or state.
Ability to evaluate alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
Understanding of hotel products and guest services.
Ability to communicate professionally when answering phones and speaking with guests and team members.
Positive attitude and desire to serve others.
Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
Ability to perform basic numerical operations, including counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to deal effectively with customers and staff while demonstrating patience, tact, and diplomacy.
Willingness to learn new tasks and information, support team members, and respond positively and optimistically to guests and coworkers.

Responsibilities

Approach guest and employee interactions in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and name tag while working.
Greet and seat guests at appropriate tables in a timely manner.
Ensure menus are clean and presentable.
Clear, clean, and reset tables and hotel spaces as requested by clients or management.
Keep service areas stocked, organized, clean, and neat, and complete side work each shift.
Accommodate guest special requests and offer appropriate alternatives when needed.
Communicate with other departments regarding in-house VIPs.
Support food and beverage service as needed, including washing dishes, restocking equipment and utensils, cleaning work areas and floors, and moving trash to designated areas.
Know the standards for receiving a room service order and be familiar with menus and current specials in applicable departments.
Perform cashiering functions, close checks, and complete end-of-shift paperwork.
Perform opening and closing procedures and side work according to station rotation assignments.
Answer questions about the hotel, brand standards, guest expectations, hotel characteristics, local attractions, and things to do.
Produce high-quality drinks, including specialty coffee and tea, specialty cocktails, and other requested beverages, as required by the hotel.
Perform other duties and attend meetings as requested by management.
