About The Position

Clow Valve’s Metal Casting Facility has an immediate opening for a first-shift Brass Utility. The role involves grinding excess metal from castings, handling parts and molten metal, transferring metal to the pouring line, and supporting facility cleanup and other duties as required. The position uses grinders, bandsaws, hoists, cranes, and forklifts. First-shift hours are 4:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The starting wage is $28.21, with a qualified wage of $29.11. Health insurance is available after 60 days.

Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry more than 50 pounds.
• Frequent lifting more than 40 times per hour.
• Ability to bend, twist, and stand for more than eight hours.
• Ability to read, write, and understand training and instructions.
• Ability to work in extreme heat.
• Ability to use and work around moving machinery, including a ladle, crane, and forklift.
• Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including a respirator, metatarsal-guarded boots, eye protection, hearing protection, and an aluminized hood and leggings.

Responsibilities

• Remove excess metal from castings and parts using the proper grinding tools.
• Check guards, tool rests, and wheels for proper spacing and condition.
• Lock out and tag out equipment when necessary.
• Retrieve parts from tubs and place finished parts in the proper tubs.
• Retrieve molten metal from the brass furnace.
• Use grinders, bandsaws, hoists, and cranes.
• Operate a forklift to load and unload trucks.
• Transfer metal to the pouring line for pouring into molds.
• Perform cleanup and other duties as required.
