Clow Valve - Brass Grinder
About The Position
Clow Valve Company’s Metal Casting Facility has an immediate opening for a 3rd Shift Brass Grinder. This is an incentive-based, non-exempt position. The scheduled shift is 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. The starting wage is $28.21, with a qualified wage of $29.11 and a third-shift differential of $1.20. Health insurance is available after 60 days. The Brass Grinder removes excess metal from parts using the appropriate grinding tool, handles parts between tubs, checks grinding equipment for safe condition and setup, and keeps the work area clean. The work involves frequent lifting and carrying, repeated bending and twisting, and standing for more than eight hours. The employee must be able to work in extreme heat and around moving machinery, and use required personal protective equipment.
Requirements
- Ability to read and write and understand training and instructions.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds and sometimes lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to lift frequently, more than 40 times per hour.
- Ability to bend, twist, and stand for more than eight hours.
- Ability to work in extreme heat.
- Ability to use and work around moving machinery.
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including a respirator, metatarsal-guarded boots, eye protection, hearing protection, an apron, gloves, and sleeves.
Responsibilities
- Check guards, tool rests, and wheels for proper spacing and condition.
- Lock out and tag out equipment when necessary.
- Retrieve parts from tubs.
- Remove excess metal from parts using the proper grinding tool.
- Place finished parts in the proper tub.
- Perform general cleanup of the work area.
