About The Position

Clow Valve Company's Metal Casting Facility is hiring a third-shift Brass Grinder in an incentive-based position. The role involves grinding excess metal from parts, handling parts and tubs, checking grinding equipment and guards, and keeping the work area clean. The stated third-shift hours are 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. The starting wage is $28.21, with a qualified wage of $29.11 and a third-shift differential of $1.20. Health insurance is available after 60 days.

Requirements

• Ability to read and write and understand training and instructions.
• Ability to work in extreme heat.
• Ability to use and work around moving machinery.
• Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including a respirator, metatarsal-guarded boots, eye protection, hearing protection, an apron, gloves, and sleeves.
• Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds, some lifting of up to 50 pounds, and frequent lifting more than 40 times per hour.
• Ability to bend, twist, and stand for more than eight hours.

Responsibilities

• Check guards, tool rests, and grinding wheels for proper spacing and condition.
• Lock out and tag out equipment when necessary.
• Retrieve parts from tubs.
• Remove excess metal from parts using the proper grinding tool.
• Place finished parts in the proper tub.
• Perform general cleanup of the work area.
