About The Position

BritBox and BBC Select are growing fast and looking for a multifaceted strategist with killer instincts, airtight organization, and sharp creative judgment to help take both brands to the next level. This hybrid role blends strategic rigor with real-world marketing pragmatism — someone who can bring consistency and cohesion to new-to-world spaces while turning ambitious plans into action across teams. For BBC Select, this person will help drive a breakthrough repositioning effort: shaping a bold new brand strategy, building the framework for long-term cohesion, embedding insights into everyday decision-making, and inspiring standout creative campaigns. They must be an exceptional writer, collaborative operator, and versatile thinker who can move fluidly between strategy, creative development, and execution. The ideal candidate loves documentaries and/or British television, understands the streaming business, and thrives in fast-moving, evolving environments.

Requirements

  • Experience in Brand Strategy (with a bend towards Marketing) or Brand Marketing (but highly strategic), preferably in-house in TV, other subscription service or at a creative agency.
  • Reliably pithy-yet-inspiring writing. Articulates strategic vision and creative ideas clearly and persuasively. Understands the freedom of a tight brief.
  • Strong experience with designing creative communications campaigns and ability to show campaign maps that you personally designed.
  • Excellent rapport with Creative team and appreciation for creative process.
  • “Full-funnel” thinker, with an eye for brand cohesion, effectiveness, and ‘connecting the dots.’
  • Thrives in change: ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects, priorities, and personalities at once.
  • Highly organized: ability to own and clearly manage a high-visibility workstream in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to manage up and sideways with clear progress and goals.
  • Skilled presenter. Comfort with presenting your own material or others'; ability to jump in on-the-fly
  • Hungry & Open-minded: loves to learn something new from people with different perspectives. Can pick up quickly by observing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the BBC Select repositioning effort.
  • Oversee the review and selection of strategic partner/agency, including RFP creation, review management, award, briefing, and ongoing strategic development.
  • Own the relationship with the strategic partner, including strategic feedback and timeline management. Guide the positioning work, concepts, and development overall.
  • Partner with Insights to develop a testing plan, execute research, and glean insights from the data to inform the strategic decisionmaking.
  • Be the internal champion of the new BBC Select positioning. Help cement brand positioning language and explanation, roadshow and gain buy-in, and be the go-to on all implications from the new positioning, including naming, branding, marketing assets, and how it coheres with BritBox positioning.
  • Author BBC Select Brand 101 onboarding deck and drive education.
  • Spearhead RFP to bring on new partners in areas of Design, Creative, Creative Production or others.
  • Partner with agency/creative team to land Brand Guidelines, including brand strategy, tone, character, and basic design parameters
  • Author messaging framework for new BBC Select positioning through-funnel and over time so it’s clear how the brand communicates across channels and audiences. Collaborate extensively with Growth and Lifecycle Marketing teams. Post-launch, refine messaging framework across consumer journey as we learn in-market and optimize.
  • Partner with the Editorial team, Growth Marketing and Creative teams to turn the positioning work into a go-to-market plan to re-launch BBC Select
  • Work with BBC Select owners to define the brand ecosystem (owned platform or distributed on others) and support growth plans.
  • Collaborate with BritBox Premier owners to integrate new BBC Select into BritBox Premier ecosystem
  • Plot today/tomorrow applications to demonstrate brand stretch over time.
  • Work with Insights team on an ongoing basis, understanding consumer behavior and trends to develop strategies and briefs that resonate with target audience. Ability to pull patterns and surprising insights from a constellation of datapoints.
  • Develop Brand KPIs for the new BBC Select and be the go-to for ongoing KPI monitoring across the brand tracking.
  • Support research design in ongoing consumer validation.
  • Develop plug-and-play approach for creative campaign performance recaps, and means of integrating findings into subsequent creative campaigns
  • Write ongoing creative briefs, run briefings, and ensure creative response is unexpected yet on-brief and on-time
  • Help develop easy-to-use ‘design target’ profile with Insights team.
  • Partner with the Creative team on concepting, shaping on-brief campaigns, and finding areas for differentiating creative executions.
  • Support campaign planning with audience insight, map go-to-market plan, and lead coordination of cross-functional asset creation for total campaign.
  • Continue to refine creative briefing templates and associated processes. Update corresponding playbook and socialize.
  • Help lead development on new-to-world brand extensions, including but not limited to IRL Brand Activations, Brand partnerships, and other Brand applications.
  • Clearly articulate and pressure test brand direction and help gain buy-in from cross-functional stakeholders.
