About The Position

This Brand Manager position is for the Controls Business Unit at Scotts Miracle-Gro, located at their Corporate Office in Marysville, Ohio. The Brand Manager acts as the 'hub of the wheel' for their business unit, owning a prestigious national brand. They are strategic leaders responsible for driving both top-line growth and profitability. This involves utilizing insights to create impactful innovation, crafting breakthrough marketing programs to increase awareness and conversion, and ensuring consumers remain central to all activities.

Requirements

  • Understand modern brand building in a fast-paced CPG environment.
  • Experience balancing competing priorities and quickly translating insights into actionable marketing strategies.
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of P&L management to deliver profitable results.
  • Experience leading a cross-functional team (Sales, Supply Chain, R&D, etc.) with strong influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated relentless bias for action and owner’s mentality.
  • Enterprise mindset – ability to understand how their work fits into and enhances broader company objectives.
  • Curiosity – seeking out new ways to drive growth and challenging the status quo.
  • Outstanding storytelling ability – quickly and succinctly distilling complex data.
  • 5+ years of experience in brand management of escalating responsibility, or other relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA is preferred, but not required.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset is encouraged—ability to define new opportunities and champion ideas directly to senior leadership.
  • True general management experience—operationally owning the business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the brand and cross-functional partners through the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that drive the business for the short and long term.
  • Navigate uncertainty and lead with agility in a rapidly-evolving consumer & customer landscape.
  • Develop the marketing talent bench by coaching and leveling up Assistant Brand Managers.
