About The Position
As a Branch Sales Associate, you provide solutions and connect with walk-in customers using product knowledge, guidance, and a customer-focused attitude. You maximize sales opportunities, build customer loyalty, and exceed customer expectations. The role also involves shifting between customer assistance and warehouse tasks throughout the day. You report to the Branch Manager. Responsibilities include managing the customer experience from product selection and order entry through safe picking and loading; preparing and staging orders; handling stock and backorders; merchandising and showroom replenishment; inventory counts; using computer systems for customer-facing and warehouse activities; and maintaining branch appearance and safety standards.
Requirements
- Flexibility to work any time within the branch's hours of operation.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and heavier loads with assistance.
- Ability to learn and operate powered industrial equipment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the customer experience, including product selection, accurate order entry, safely picking products, and safely loading customer vehicles.
- Identify ways to maximize sales opportunities and encourage customer loyalty.
- Adapt communication to different audiences by email, phone, and in person.
- Pick, prepare, and stage will-call orders and shipping products.
- Prepare customer backorders and put away received stock.
- Assist with merchandising and replenish the showroom.
- Perform inventory counts.
- Learn and navigate computer systems for customer-facing and warehouse activities.
- Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain the branch's appearance to Grainger standards.
- Follow safety guidelines and process standards, including wearing personal protective equipment.
