About The Position

BOY (Brave, Optimistic, Youthful) is a brand-NEW 14-week pre-teen program geared for boys in 5th-8th grade. This program offers middle school aged boys the opportunity to build life skills and discuss topics that are not typically taught in school. The goal is for the participants to learn healthy life skills, build self-esteem, create lasting friendships, and feel better prepared to tackle life challenges! This program runs from October-April on a bi-weekly basis in both Washington and Ozaukee Counties. Under the direction of the Mental Health Manager, the BOY Facilitator is responsible for administering the curriculum of the program and leading group-based discussions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Ability to relate to diverse groups of people.
  • Excellent oral communication and public speaking skills.
  • Requires ability to effectively interact with and motivate people with a variety of abilities and needs.
  • Experience working with youth and teens.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens/Child Abuse Prevention every year

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with small groups, either as an educator or a mentor.
  • Young individuals who are searching to gain mentorship experience (Senior year in High School is acceptable).

Responsibilities

  • Administer curriculum of the program and lead group-based discussions.
  • Attends planning sessions as required by the Mental Health Manager.
  • Conducts research on various topics for program meetings.
  • Commit up to 3 hours to program on a biweekly basis (Including program & planning).
  • Accurately tracks participant numbers for reporting to Mental Health Leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
