About The Position

MedSpeed is hiring a full-time Box Truck Medical Driver in Columbus, Ohio. The role transports vital healthcare materials, including lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, sterile processing instrumentation, healthcare linens, and related items. Drivers operate a non-CDL commercial motor vehicle, such as a straight truck, throughout their shift on varied roads and in different weather conditions. The position pays $20.00 per hour. Hours worked after 10 p.m. and hours worked on weekends receive a $1.00-per-hour shift differential. The listed schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving history.
• Have or be able to obtain the appropriate current class driver’s license.
• Pass or successfully complete a company-administered road test.
• Provide documents required for a Driver Qualification file.
• Demonstrate dependability and reliability.
• Be familiar with and able to adapt to technology.
• Demonstrate the ability to follow procedures closely.
• Regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, including lifting items off storage racks.
• Be comfortable walking and standing for long periods.
• Pass initial and random drug and alcohol screens.
• Have or be able to obtain a DOT Medical Certification.
• Be at least 21 years old and have held an active driver’s license for 3 years.
• Read and speak English sufficiently to converse.
• Be able, through experience, training, or both, to safely operate the type of non-CDL commercial motor vehicle used.
• Be physically qualified by a doctor to operate a non-CDL commercial motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, sterile processing instrumentation, healthcare linens, and related materials.
• Drive a non-CDL commercial motor vehicle, such as a straight truck, on varied roads and in varying weather conditions.
• Use a handheld scanning device to accurately track items through the transportation cycle.
• Strictly follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
• Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
• Present a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interaction.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain a clean, neat, and orderly vehicle.
• Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
