We’re looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support the accuracy and integrity of Talize’s financial records. In this role, you’ll manage general ledger activity, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, and journal entries while supporting month-end close, audits, and budget reporting. With a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and process efficiency, you’ll help ensure reliable financial reporting and contribute to informed decision-making across the organization.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of accounting experience.
  • Degree or Diploma in Accounting.
  • Strong Accounting foundation and solid understanding of accounting principles (IFRS and ASPE), general ledger activity, and reconciliation processes.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy proven ability to maintain high data accuracy across transactions, reconciliations, and reports.
  • Proficiency in Financial Software and Excel Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and experience using financial systems such as Sage and/or Yardi.

  • Audit and compliance experience and familiarity with audit processes, SOX controls, and responding to external/internal audit requests.
  • Process Improvement Mindset and ability to identify inefficiencies and contribute to system and workflow enhancements.
  • Professional Designation in Progress or Completed (CPB or CPA). Actively pursuing or holding a designation that reinforces professional standards and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and record all general ledger activity including accurate posting, processing, and coding of financial transactions.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements, including financial package compilation and schedule preparation.
  • Post and validate journal entries and ensure documentation is retained and organized per audit and compliance standards.
  • Coordinate timing and sequencing of period-end activities to meet close deadlines.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate variances or errors.
  • Prepare daily bank reconciliations and monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable, including invoice generation, collections follow-up, cash application, and reconciliation.
  • Reconcile daily bank transactions and credit card statements against general ledger entries.
  • Track and maintain accounts receivable activity including reporting aging schedules and following up on overdue balances.
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, depreciation calculations, and year-end adjustments.
  • Monitor and update fixed assets, ensuring proper recognition, depreciation, and classification.
  • Provide backup support for Accounts Payable including invoice coding, entry, and vendor payments.
  • Support compliance with IFRS and ASPE and internal financial controls and related activities.
  • Participate in the development and tracking of budgets by providing accurate data and reporting support.
  • Support the completion of internal and external audit requests by preparing necessary schedules and documentation.
  • Archive and organize all financial documents and backup data to maintain audit-readiness.
  • Respond to audit queries and assist with remediation of any findings.
  • Provide data and transactional support for budgeting and forecasting cycles.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying gaps or inefficiencies and recommending solutions.
  • Contribute to systems optimization by helping test or implement finance-related process enhancements (e.g., Sage, Yardi).
  • Leverage available tools to streamline reconciliations, automate depreciation schedules, and improve real-time financial data accuracy.
