About The Position

Educators Rising is seeking an organized, detail-oriented bookkeeper to support our finance team. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and preparing the next generation of educators. The role begins as a part-time, hourly contract position, with the potential to transition to employment based on performance and organizational needs. Work is primarily remote; however, candidates must be able to pick up and process mail in Arlington, Virginia, at least once per week.

Requirements

• High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• One to three years of bookkeeping experience; nonprofit experience preferred.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and the MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work independently while recognizing when to ask questions or escalate issues.
• Hiring is contingent upon satisfactory completion of required background and credit checks.

Responsibilities

• Accurately enter expenses and payments into appropriate systems.
• Ensure transactions are properly categorized and supported by complete documentation.
• Follow up with internal and external stakeholders to resolve financial matters.
• Pick up and process mail in Arlington, VA at least once per week.
• Maintain organized vendor contract files and track key dates and required documentation.
• Support the Finance & Operations Manager with routine financial tasks and reporting.
