About The Position

The BOLT (Building Opportunities & Learning Together) Intern Program is Kinder Morgan’s elite summer internship program. This program offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the energy industry while enhancing professional and interpersonal skills. Interns will participate in meaningful projects that support the company's vision of delivering energy to improve lives and create a better world. Kinder Morgan is one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America, owning an interest in or operating approximately 79,000 miles of pipelines and 139 terminals. The company is a market leader in Natural Gas Pipelines, Products Pipelines, CO2, and Terminals, with a large footprint of diversified and strategically located assets core to North American energy infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Working toward a degree in Energy Management, Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or Engineering.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office – (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent modeling skills and ability to develop data analysis tools.
  • Outgoing, energetic, and self-motivated.
  • Articulate, ability to work well under pressure, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability and desire to work in a team environment and to work independently.
  • Entering Junior or Senior year of college.

Responsibilities

  • Accumulating and evaluating data regarding the efficient use of our existing truck terminals and renewable fuel opportunities in North America.
  • Managing a special project on the efficient use of truck terminals and renewable fuel opportunities, which will be presented to executives at the end of the internship.
  • Learning how the refined products industry within the United States functions and operates.
  • Learning how refined products are supplied, transported, and delivered to markets.
  • Learning how large interstate pipelines operate and make money.
  • Understanding refined products suppliers, shippers, and markets.
  • Economically valuing services provided by our pipelines and terminals to the market.
  • Gaining exposure to financial modeling and analysis of deal/project economics.
  • Gaining exposure to the complete energy value chain from refinery tailgate to the end-use market.
  • Gaining exposure to the supply dynamic of the primary refining regions in the U.S.
