About The Position

ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a HVAC/Boiler Operator for their ISS2 contract supporting an Air Force customer at Eareckson Air Station (EAS) in Shemya, AK. This is a rotational position with 3 months on-site and 1 month off (unpaid). Housing is provided in dormitory facilities, and meals are served in the cafeteria. Transportation to EAS from Anchorage, AK, is provided by government-sponsored aircraft. The Boiler Operator tends boilers to produce steam or high-temperature water, monitors boiler operations via gauges and meters, and performs repair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of HVAC and refrigeration systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years’ verifiable experience as an HVAC technician or Boiler Tender.
  • Universal refrigerant card issued by the EPA.
  • Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Obtain an interim security clearance and maintain a secret clearance.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check, fingerprint, physical, and drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • Boiler Tender certificate of fitness.

Responsibilities

  • Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape using cutting and bending equipment and tools; cuts and threads pipe using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment.
  • Bends and forms sheet metal for ductwork, grease pans, etc.
  • Repairs, overhauls, maintains, and services industrial and residential heating, ventilating, hydronic, and air conditioning systems, and refrigeration units. Troubleshoots and locates malfunctions, diagnoses problems, and determines appropriate repairs.
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces thermostats, pressure stats, relays, switches, and electrical wiring.
  • Repairs or replaces compressors and components, electric motors, fans, belts, and pulleys. Services and repairs evaporators, condensers, and receivers. Repacks valves, lubricates moving parts, replaces filters and cleans coils as needed.
  • Works from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal and written instructions.
  • Repair components within a system to include transformers, motors, electrodes, solenoids, rheostats, PLC controls, and aqua stats.
  • Performs duties on PL-1 resources under the direction of the MDA Liaison.
  • Responds to call-outs after normal working hours as needed.
  • Assists other trades and crafts personnel in their daily operations, as directed.
  • Ensures proper housekeeping of jobsite, mechanical rooms, and shops.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
