About The Position

As DAWSONs Boiler Operator, you will ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operation of boilers, heating systems, and related mechanical equipment in compliance with environmental and safety regulations. Location: Charleston, SC

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating commercial or industrial boiler systems.
  • Knowledge of boiler operation, water chemistry, combustion control, and safety procedures.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems and basic mechanical/electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret gauges, schematics, and operating instructions.
  • Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined or elevated spaces as needed.
  • Must be eligible for DHS background investigation and suitability clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with work authorization.
  • This position may require the operation of Company-provided vehicles. If operating Company-provided vehicles, maintaining a valid drivers license in good standing is a condition of employment. If operating Company-provided vehicles, employee must comply with all Company vehicles use and safety policies, as well as all applicable traffic laws. If operating Company-provided vehicles, the Company may review your motor vehicle record (MVR), as permitted by law, to verify eligibility to operate Company vehicles. If operating Company-provided vehicles, you must immediately notify the Company if your drivers license is suspended, revoked, restricted, expires, or if your driving privileges otherwise change.
  • Must be able to work within the following shift 2300-0800
  • Work schedules are determined by management and may be modified at any time based on business needs, contractual obligations, and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and adjust boiler systems to maintain prescribed temperatures and pressures.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspections on boilers, pumps, and valves.
  • Record daily readings, maintain operational logs, and report abnormal conditions.
  • Diagnose and resolve operational issues and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Conduct water treatment testing and chemical adjustments to ensure system efficiency and safety.
  • Adhere to applicable facility safety procedures and regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, and PWS Section C.5.G).
  • Respond to emergency situations related to heating or boiler system failures.
