Body Shop Estimator
About The Position
The Russ Darrow Group is seeking a detail-driven Body Shop Estimator to assess vehicle damage, prepare repair estimates, and coordinate collision repairs from initial intake through completion. The role works closely with customers, technicians, insurance partners, and internal teams, balancing accuracy, efficiency, and quality standards. The estimator serves as the customer’s primary point of contact, explains the collision repair and insurance process, and oversees repair progress to support timely, high-quality results. The company offers training and support, including for candidates without prior experience, and describes opportunities for growth and advancement. The position is full-time, day shift, located at Russ Darrow Waukesha Mitsubishi in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Salary range is undisclosed.
Requirements
- Experience in estimating, a body shop, the automotive field, or an insurance company is a plus.
- Proficiency in estimating software.
- Knowledge of insurance procedures and requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to take responsibility for the accuracy and timeliness of work product.
- Valid driver's license.
Nice To Haves
- I-CAR certification is preferred.
- Experience in estimating, a body shop, the automotive field, or an insurance company is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers professionally and courteously and serve as their primary point of contact throughout the repair process.
- Explain the collision repair process, including insurance claims, payment procedures, repair techniques, required repairs, and estimated timelines.
- Prepare accurate, detailed damage reports and repair estimates.
- Coordinate and route repairs by handling paperwork, scheduling, monitoring repair progress, negotiating repair times, and arranging sublet work as needed.
- Oversee the repair process to support timely completion and high-quality results.
- Work tactfully and professionally with internal teams, insurance representatives, and customers.
- Maintain and service insurance accounts according to company standards and requirements.
