How you will create an impact The Bodily Injury Claims Analyst II is responsible for handling Commercial Auto Bodily Injury claims of varying severity from minor to moderate injuries in accordance with all AIG Operational / Best Practices Guidelines. This would include determining coverage and drafting reservation of rights and denial letters, attendance at mediation/settlement conferences and instructing independent adjusters and attorneys in the negotiation and settlement of claims. Claims are primarily in Canadian venues.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years handling BI Claims.
  • College/University or equivalent industry experience.
  • Ability to make decisions and give directions to adjusters and/or defense counsel.
  • Must be a quick learner with strong communication and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient computer skills to navigate paperless claim file system.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge in handling commercial auto claims is an asset.
  • CIP designation or working towards your CIP is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Review commercial auto bodily injury claims in conjunction with policy wordings to determine coverage.
  • Provide direction to independent adjusters on investigation of claims.
  • Prepare disclaimer and/or reservation of rights letters and communicate same to underwriters, brokers and insured's when applicable.
  • Provide instructions to legal counsel to bring about appropriate resolution of claims.
  • Ensure compliance by legal counsel of our litigation guidelines.
  • Participate in mediation, arbitrations and hearings, to bring about resolution of claims.
  • Negotiate settlements directly where possible.
  • Issue payments within appropriate time frame.
  • Operate within our best practices guidelines, including timely reserve review, notes, payment requests, electronic diary.
  • Inform management of all complaints, large losses, coverage issues, etc.
  • Compliance with the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule.
  • Maintain good rapport and close working relationship with business partners including underwriters, brokers, insureds and claims vendors.
  • Stay abreast of legal developments which affect the insurance industry in general, as well as those which are specific to commercial auto claims.
