About The Position

The Contractor shall provide Board Certified Urology Physician services onsite at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center. The physician will deliver comprehensive urological care to Veterans of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), including outpatient, inpatient, surgical, and on-call services in accordance with VA clinical standards and facility requirements. This is a high-impact clinical role providing full-spectrum urologic care to Veterans at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center. The position requires strong procedural skills, independent clinical judgment, and commitment to VA standards of excellence in patient care.

Requirements

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Urology (American Board of Urology – ABU).
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, territory, or DC.
  • No history of suspended, revoked, restricted, or voluntarily surrendered licensure.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Completion of an accredited Urology residency (minimum 3 years Urologic Surgery training).
  • Demonstrated competency in full scope urologic procedures and surgical techniques.
  • Must successfully complete VA credentialing and privileging.
  • Strong clinical and surgical urology skills.
  • Ability to manage high-volume veteran patient population.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and respond to urgent clinical needs.
  • Fluency in English (spoken, written, and clinical documentation).
  • All CME requirements must be maintained and up to date.

Nice To Haves

  • Robotics, laparoscopic, and highly complex urologic surgeries are not required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive urological care to Veterans, including outpatient, inpatient, surgical, and on-call services.
  • Perform outpatient and clinic care, including evaluation and management of urology patients, cystoscopy procedures, vasectomies and minor urologic procedures, scrotal and testicular procedures, prostate-related procedures (TURP and related surgeries), bladder cancer management, and ureteroscopy procedures.
  • Manage kidney and stone disease.
  • Conduct inpatient rounding for urology patients.
  • Perform general urologic surgeries including ureteral, endoscopic, prostate, bladder, and kidney procedures.
  • Utilize urological equipment such as Holmium laser, ESWL, and Fluoroscopy.
  • Conduct Specialty Evaluations, including Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams related to urologic conditions and Agent Orange evaluations (urology-related cases only).
  • Communicate all test results per VA policy, with critical results addressed within 60 minutes.
  • Ensure proper documentation, read-back procedures, and patient notification.
  • Coordinate care plans and discharge instructions for continuity of care.
  • Adhere to all VA clinical policies and procedures.
  • Provide discharge education and follow-up care instructions.
  • Ensure timely completion of consults and patient encounters.
  • Maintain compliance with VA EMR/EHR and mandatory training requirements.
