About the position
Clearmatics is seeking a Core Developer to join their Layer 1 Engineering team. The ideal candidate should have a strong knowledge of Layer 1 protocols and a passion for blockchain and decentralization. They should be skilled in systems programming and have experience in writing clean, performant, and maintainable code. The role will involve working on blockchain infrastructure optimization, protocols for specific applications, scalability, and privacy through cryptography. The candidate should have a demonstrated interest in blockchain and may have open source contributions.
Responsibilities
- Be involved at all stages of the development lifecycle for the Autonity
- Work as a systems programmer with good knowledge of Layer 1 protocols
- Have a passion for blockchain and decentralization
- Write clean, performant, and maintainable code
- Make careful design choices and anticipate the impact of code changes on wider system behavior
- Demonstrate a strong interest in blockchain and potentially have open source contributions
- Express oneself clearly in writing and discussions
Requirements
- Good knowledge of Layer 1 protocols
- Passion for blockchain and decentralization
- Experience in systems programming
- Ability to write clean, performant, and maintainable code

Designing protocols and build platforms for decentralised Financial Market Infrastructure (dFMI).
Benefits
- Experience running validator nodes for a proof-of-stake blockchain, commercially or as a tinkerer
- Ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of the implications of protocol changes, e.g. in the context of forks
- Experience managing and running high stake infrastructure
- Experience with cryptographic key management on production systems
- Familiarity with deploying and testing production software in various cloud environments
- A deep and detailed understanding of accountability, consensus algorithms, and real-world risks, with a particular focus on financial and reputational implications
- The ability to work closely and in detail with technical and research teams for the practical exploration of scenarios; testing; and continuous improvement
- Ability to reason about the economics and incentive structures of a blockchain system confidently
Nice to have:
- Experience managing validator nodes for a delegated-proof-of-stake Byzantine Fault Tolerant blockchain mainnet
- Familiarity with deploying and testing blockchain nodes in various cloud environments
- An entrepreneurial inclination
- Experience with redundant systems and distributed data storage solutions (e.g. CEPH)
- In-depth experience with cloud hosting platforms
- A keen interest in decentralised and traditional Financial Markets
