About The Position

Guardian Rail is hiring a Blaster to use a variety of abrasive blasting techniques on the exterior and interior of railcars. The role requires following company safety and quality rules and standards, reading and interpreting work orders, and completing work in compliance with FRA, AAR, company, and customer specifications. The company seeks safety-minded candidates with heavy industrial experience; railcar repair experience is a plus.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficient ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Ability to learn function-specific operational details and pass an exam demonstrating knowledge.
• Ability to learn, follow, and complete required recordkeeping for Guardian Rail EHS and Quality Program policies, procedures, and checklists.
• Knowledge of equipment and tools required to perform safe entry for blasting.
• Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to pass a fitness-for-duty examination, pre-employment physical, and pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings.
• Heavy industrial experience is sought.

Nice To Haves

• Railcar repair experience.

Responsibilities

• Interpret work orders and perform the required work.
• Notify the Supervisor of materials or equipment needed to complete job tasks.
• Work with crew members and the Supervisor in a team environment.
• Follow safety rules, keep the work area clean, and comply with OSHA and Guardian Rail Environmental, Health and Safety policies.
• Follow in-house quality processes and procedures, AAR and FRA regulations, and client-specific procedures as applicable.
• Ensure FRA, AAR, Guardian Rail, and customer quality assurance standards are met.
• Perform other assigned duties, including special projects.
