About The Position
Joby Aviation is seeking a skilled and experienced Blade Production Lead for its factory in Vandalia, Ohio. The role leads direct and indirect production staff responsible for producing blades for Joby’s eVTOL aircraft. The successful candidate will be organized and self-driven, with a strong understanding of safety and quality fundamentals in manufacturing operations, while also meeting production quantity goals. The role calls for strong leadership and the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced startup environment as manufacturing scales.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related field with at least 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience, or at least 8 years of equivalent practical manufacturing experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in a production or operations leadership role.
- Experience with composite materials, assembly processes, RTM, tooling, and/or equipment.
- Superior problem-solving and teamwork skills while working with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability and interest in exploring details and providing constructive feedback to the team and cross-functional teams.
Nice To Haves
- At least 5 years of leadership experience within an aerospace or regulated manufacturing environment.
- Extensive knowledge of composite molding and resin transfer molding (RTM).
- Demonstrated experience leading Lean and Kaizen continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow Blade Production, including a team of production technicians and leaders.
- Produce all production components while meeting safety, quality, and quantity goals.
- Support team members’ professional development, with a focus on training and engagement.
- Develop and communicate clear expectations, prioritize clear communication, and help the team achieve its goals.
- Develop inter-team and intra-team processes to facilitate efficiency.
- Manage continuous improvement through kaizen activities.
