About The Position
The Biology Student Laboratory Teaching Assistant (TA2) assists the instructor with preparation and operation of laboratory classes, which may be conducted in-person, virtually, or in a hybrid format. The TA2 may provide instruction within the laboratory setting and could be asked to assist with grading laboratory assignments and quizzes, as well as other clerical tasks associated with the laboratory class experience. The TA2 must be able to commit to the full duration of the laboratory section, including time for setup, resets, takedown, meetings with the instructor, grading, and other operational activities related to the lab and lecture.
Requirements
- Must be a La Sierra University student currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 quarter.
- Must have taken and passed BIOL466/L within the last 4 years with a grade of B or higher.
- Must be cleared and able to start work on or before September 21.
- Must have taken and passed the course they would TA for with a grade “B” or higher.
Responsibilities
- Assists the instructor with preparation and operation of laboratory classes (in-person, virtual, or hybrid).
- May provide instruction in the laboratory.
- May assist with grading of laboratory assignments/quizzes.
- May assist with other clerical work related to the laboratory class experience.
- Works a laboratory section for the full time the class lab runs.
- Allows time for set-up, resets, take-down, meetings with the instructor, grading, and other operational activities.
