About The Position

Bureau Veritas is looking for a Biologist in Ecotoxicology – Signer to join our environmental laboratory in Saint-Laurent, QC. This role involves performing analyses on samples, complex sample preparation, and ensuring accuracy and quality of work by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The position requires approving and validating data, signing reports, and generating reports with results for clients. The Biologist will also be responsible for troubleshooting analyses, contributing to corrective action procedures, meeting deadlines, and recommending SOP revisions. Additionally, the role involves ensuring proper maintenance of instruments and equipment, planning and organizing work using summary reports, adhering to laboratory safety rules, maintaining a clean work area, and contributing to daily and weekly planning. The position also includes providing input to performance management, coordinating laboratory projects, implementing and validating existing methods, writing SOPs, following up on contaminations and interferences, questioning results, and performing other assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

  • B Sc. Biology, Microbiology or other related field
  • MINIMUM of 2 years of experience in ecotoxicology
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good record keeping skills and attention to detail
  • Dynamic, energetic, motivated, positive outlook

Responsibilities

  • Perform analyses on samples and complex sample preparation
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to ensure accuracy and quality of work
  • Ensure that quality control criteria are met for all reported data
  • Approve data generated (Level I validation) for which the analyst has been trained and validated
  • If required Level II validate data
  • Sign the reports
  • Generate reports with results and fax to the client
  • Understand and troubleshoot analyses
  • Provide input to corrective action procedures
  • Ensure that deadlines are met
  • Recommend SOP revisions
  • Ensure that instruments and equipment are appropriately maintained
  • Use summary reports to plan and organize work
  • Follow all laboratory safety rules and regulations
  • Keep their work area clean, neat and organized
  • Contribute to daily and weekly planning
  • Provide input to performance management
  • Coordination of laboratory projects
  • Existing method implementation and validation
  • SOP writing
