About The Position

Bureau Veritas is looking for a Microbiologist - Signer to join our environmental laboratory in Montreal, QC. This role involves performing complex sample preparation and analysis, ensuring accuracy and quality of work by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and meeting quality control criteria for all reported data. The position requires approving data generated (validation level 1) for which analysts have been trained and validated, and potentially validating Level II data. Responsibilities also include generating reports, understanding and diagnosing analyses, contributing to corrective action procedures, meeting deadlines, recommending SOP revisions, ensuring equipment maintenance, planning and organizing work using summaries, adhering to laboratory safety rules, contributing to daily and weekly planning, providing support for performance supervision, coordinating laboratory projects, validating and implementing new methods, writing SOPs, following up on contamination and interference, and questioning results.

Requirements

  • Have a BAC in microbiology or equivalency
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in an environmental laboratory, specifically in microbiology (mandatory requirement to be a signer)
  • Strong knowledge in microbiology
  • Are able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Are attentive to detail

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex sample preparation and analysis
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure accuracy and quality of work
  • Ensure that quality control criteria are met for all reported data
  • Approve data generated (validation level 1) for which analysts have been trained and validated
  • If required, validate Level II data
  • Generate reports with results and fax them to the clients
  • Understand and diagnose analyses
  • Contribute to corrective action procedures
  • Ensure deadlines are met
  • Recommend SOP revisions
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained
  • Use summaries to plan and organize work
  • Follow all laboratory safety rules and regulations
  • Contribute to daily and weekly planning
