About The Position

Bureau Veritas is looking for a Laboratory Analyst – Ecotoxicology to join their environmental laboratory in Saint-Laurent, QC. This role involves performing analyses on samples, complex sample preparation, and monitoring various aquatic organisms. The analyst will be responsible for equipment maintenance, maintaining aquarium systems, and adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure accuracy and quality. They will also troubleshoot analyses, contribute to corrective actions, manage deadlines, and plan work using summary reports. Safety, cleanliness, and contributing to daily/weekly planning are also key aspects of the position. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by a supervisor or team leader.

Requirements

Diploma in Biology, Bioecology or other related diploma/experience
Can work independently and as part of a team
Good record keeping skills and attention to detail
Dynamic, energetic, motivated and have a positive outlook

Responsibilities

Perform analyses on samples and complex samples preparation
Breeding monitoring: algae, daphnia, ceriodaphnia, fathead, trout
Take care of the maintenance of equipment related to breeding and analyses
Maintain one or more systems of aquariums or pools in open systems
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to ensure accuracy and quality of work
Ensure that quality control criteria are met for all reported data
Understand and troubleshoot analyses
Provide input to corrective action procedures
Ensure deadlines are met
Ensure that equipment is appropriately maintained
Use summary reports to plan and organize work
Follow all laboratory safety rules and regulations
Keep their work area clean, neat and organized
Contribute to daily and weekly planning
Other responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor or team leader
