Serve as Key Biologics Research SME for Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) Center for Infectious Disease Research (CIDR). Support the safe and effective scientific and administrative management of the laboratory and supporting staff. Manage work flow for junior staff. Review and verify data generated by the lab. Knowledgeable on and experienced in sterile tissue culture techniques, good laboratory practices and performing all steps associated with eukaryotic blood borne pathogen cell culture growth, adaptation and cloning. Experienced in programming, troubleshooting and adjusting temperature cycling incubators used for growing long-term synchronous blood stage pathogens. Experience with optimizing the process and culturing conditions of cGMP batches of eukaryotic blood borne pathogens for use in Controlled Human Infection studies and transferring knowledge to Pilot Bioproduction Facility. Experience with identifying Plasmodium spp pathogens by microscopy and knowledge of the life cycle for producing products for use in functional assays. Track and maintain status of supply/reagent/chemical/sample and equipment inventories. Assist with budget management. Possess demonstrated knowledge of using the MACSQuant flow cytometer. Experience with writing and revising SOPs, risk assessments and study reports/summaries. Possess strong organization and project management skills. Manage notebooks, data files, and perform data analysis.
