About The Position

Responsible for leading complex bioinformatics projects and overseeing data analysis workflows. Designs and applies novel computational methods/bioinformatics algorithms, and machine learning models for building data models and tools using various software and statistical tools to aid in the analysis and interpretation of genetic data, clinical data, and images. Collaborates with other teams, stakeholders, and external partners on large-scale projects. Contributes to the development of bioinformatics strategies and research plans. Mentors and trains junior analysts or team members. Designs, maintains, and troubleshoots data processing/software pipelines and data architecture using various computational tools. Provides technical expertise and support for bioinformatics tools and software. Performs advanced statistical analyses and data integration across multiple datasets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Bioinformatics required or Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required
  • Related experience in bioinformatics 5-7 years required
  • Ability to program, such as with Perl/Python.
  • Familiarity with principles of experimental design and modern data analysis paradigms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and external contacts.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree Bioinformatics preferred
  • SQL proficiency using MySQL and/or SQL Server, as well as knowledge of NoSQL and other DBMS (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Apache CouchDB), is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SDLC principles.
