About The Position

Nosco is looking for a Bindery Setup Operator at our Gurnee, IL facility. This role is on our 12 hour rotating shift schedule. As an employee owner in this position, you will set up and operate Bindery equipment in accordance with both internal and customer specifications, while working in a safe and efficient manner. This is a position that requires a critical eye for detail, precision, and consistency. All while working in a team-based environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Physical requirements: Twisting, turning, squeezing, grasping, reaching, reaching over equipment, kneeling, crawling, pulling, extended periods of standing, ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Long periods of concentration.
  • Speaking, hearing and vision are also essentials to performing job functions.
  • Skill to motivate your assigned team through consistent and reasonable communication.
  • Shift flexibility, willingness to work overtime and on short notice
  • High School diploma or GED required

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably 2+years of Bindery (literature folder gluer) or other technical skills operating machinery.
  • Experience with basic Quality systems and documentation.
  • Flexibility to work any shift and Overtime. Work in a fast-paced environment with ability to adapt to change.

Responsibilities

  • Operate available equipment to ensure production objectives are met.
  • Cross train to be able to run all finishing assets in the Bindery department.
  • Perform minor preventive maintenance/repairs, report any mechanical defects to Manager and Team Lead, and keep machinery in good working condition.
  • Ensure quality system procedures are always followed.
  • Ensure department meets all needs for customer satisfaction including OTD.
  • Knowledge of the Finishing Department as it pertains to Quality Production.
  • Knowledge of all of the control centers throughout the Finishing Department as it pertains to asset capabilities and performance efficiencies on scheduled assets.
  • Has a basic understanding of folding principles pertaining to miniature buckle and knife folding.
  • Ability to make fine-tuning adjustments after an uncontrolled machine stop.
  • Understands defects which may be encountered as part of their job function.
  • Reviews fold configurations and folding concepts.
  • Sets feeder alignment and vacuum in-feed, plate settings and measurements, roller settings and driven paper thickness, score or slitter to match fold sequence, side guide position for R/A, and R/A plate settings and measurements.
  • Checks finished piece to spec and sample.
