About The Position

The BIM Solutions & Implementation Engineer helps architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) organizations adopt AI-powered design technology. This is a customer-facing technical role that combines BIM expertise, software implementation, troubleshooting, and user enablement; it is neither a traditional BIM modeling role nor a purely software engineering position. The engineer bridges advanced technology and the people who use it in their daily work. The role leads customers through implementation, from demonstrations and pilot projects to organization-wide adoption. It involves understanding customers’ BIM environments and design workflows, configuring solutions, creating templates and integrations, delivering training, and resolving technical challenges. The engineer also communicates customer insights to Product and Engineering teams to help shape the software and improve its usefulness for AEC professionals. The position is based in San Francisco and is hybrid, with frequent travel throughout the United States. The role requires approximately 3–4 days per week onsite with customers for implementation support, training, and collaboration with design and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Advanced Autodesk Revit expertise, including a strong understanding of BIM workflows and how design teams operate.
  • Practical experience with at least some of the following: Rhino, Grasshopper, Dynamo, Python, Revit API, or similar computational design technologies.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing technical role, such as BIM Manager, BIM Implementation Specialist, Design Technology Manager, Digital Practice Lead, VDC Manager, VDC Technology Specialist, BIM Consultant, Digital Transformation Consultant, Technical Implementation Consultant, or Solutions Engineer.
  • Experience introducing, implementing, or supporting technology within AEC organizations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to translate complex technical challenges into practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to audiences with different levels of expertise.
  • A proactive, consultative approach and genuine interest in helping customers succeed.
  • Comfort experimenting with AI tools and an interest in how AI can improve the AEC industry.
  • Enjoyment of testing emerging technology and putting new ideas into practice.
  • Willingness to travel regularly throughout the United States and spend approximately 3–4 days per week onsite with customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience building AI agents, automating workflows, or developing AI-assisted solutions.
  • Experience developing custom Revit plugins, Dynamo scripts, or computational design solutions.
  • Knowledge of Rhino.Inside.Revit, pyRevit, or similar technologies.
  • Previous involvement in enterprise software implementations or digital transformation projects.
  • Active participation in the BIM and computational design community.
  • Contributions to technical forums, open-source projects, or industry events such as Autodesk University or BILT.
  • Experience working with large architectural practices, engineering consultancies, or general contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation of AI-powered design software within AEC organizations.
  • Guide customers from initial demonstrations and pilot projects through organization-wide adoption.
  • Assess BIM environments and design workflows to identify integration, automation, and improvement opportunities.
  • Configure solutions, develop templates, and create custom integrations to meet customer requirements.
  • Work with architects, engineers, BIM managers, and design technology teams to understand their challenges.
  • Demonstrate software capabilities and explain how technology can improve design processes.
  • Deliver technical training, workshops, and presentations to users and senior stakeholders.
  • Develop onboarding resources, technical documentation, and practical guides.
  • Build customer relationships and serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout implementation.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues involving BIM workflows, software integrations, and design environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems independently and collaborate with software engineering teams when needed.
  • Develop practical solutions using scripting, automation, APIs, and computational design tools.
  • Help customers optimize workflows and realize measurable value from the technology.
  • Communicate customer insights and requirements to Product and Engineering teams.
  • Identify recurring customer challenges and opportunities for product improvements.
  • Contribute ideas to make the software more intuitive, powerful, and effective for AEC professionals.
