About The Position

Pulmonary Medicine Associates (PMA) has been treating patients in the greater Sacramento area since 1973 and is a unique and exciting place to work. With specialties that include critical care, infectious disease, palliative care, pulmonology, pediatric pulmonology, and sleep medicine. We are a busy practice with over 80 providers and 2 outpatient clinic locations. PMA currently has a full-time Billing Representative position available. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• CPC or equivalent certification preferred.
• Three plus years related work experience in a medical billing environment preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, including CPT and ICD-10.
• Knowledge of medical billing procedures, coding, Medi-Cal, Medicare, worker’s compensation and HMO/PPO insurance programs.
• Knowledge of self pay and collection procedures.
• Knowledge of in-patient and out-patient professional billing.
• Excellent phone etiquette and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, including Excel and Word proficiency, and strong math skills.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, patients and the general public.
• Strong detail orientation, ability to perform research and ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Ability to work independently and juggle multiple priorities.
• Must be able to accurately type 45 WPM.

Nice To Haves

• CPC or equivalent certification preferred.
• Three plus years related work experience in a medical billing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs claims research, appeals and related follow up using the Epic EMR.
• Follows up on accounts until no balance or turned over for collection.
• Assists with answering the telephone and provides information as requested.
• Performs other work as required.
