About The Position

At Midwest Energy & Communications (MEC), our Billing team plays a critical role in delivering accurate and timely billing for electric, fiber, and propane customers. As a Billing Representative, you'll help support the systems, processes, and account activities that keep our operations running smoothly while providing excellent service to our members and customers. This position offers the opportunity to develop expertise in billing operations, customer account management, payment processing, and utility systems while working closely with teams across the organization.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes
• Experience working with reports, spreadsheets, data, or financial information is beneficial

Nice To Haves

• Experience in billing, accounting, banking, administrative support, customer service, or related fields preferred
• Utility billing experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Processing and documenting payment-related transactions
• Reviewing and verifying billing reports for accuracy and completeness
• Running and monitoring recurring billing and system processes
• Researching, investigating, and resolving discrepancies
• Responding to billing adjustments and account-related requests
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation
• Collaborating with Customer Care, Accounting, and Operations teams
• Assisting with process improvements that enhance billing accuracy and efficiency
• Serving as a backup resource for mail processing and payment application functions
