About The Position

The Billing Representative works within the Revenue Cycle department and contributes to revenue cycle activities, primarily billing, coding, and collections. The role reports directly to the Revenue Cycle Manager, who reports to the Controller and ultimately to the CEO. Remote work is available, but candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance because regular in-office attendance is required. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of billing experience.
• Certified Coder.
• Strong computer skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with professional (1500) billing and facility billing (UB-04).

Responsibilities

• Code all claims, including professional, anesthesia, and facility claims.
• Work error and hold claims as directed by the supervisor while maintaining an acceptable number of claims in the designated bucket system.
• Identify and report trends related to error, hold, and denial claims.
• Understand acceptable reimbursement levels based on CPT code and insurance company.
• Calculate self-pay rates.
• Work collections accounts as necessary and according to Hospital Policy.
• Initiate claims against estates by monitoring deaths and unpaid accounts, informing the legal department about probate and estate issues, and following up with the clerk of court.
• Set up and maintain patient payment plans.
• Understand the Hospital's Financial Assistance Policy.
• Answer patient or insurance inquiries about assigned accounts.
• Learn and understand additional revenue cycle tasks as needed.
• Demonstrate versatility within the work environment.
