About The Position

The Billing Lead assists with coordinating and supervising the daily activities of a group of Billing Specialists and supports the medical practice’s billing and collections functions. This remote position provides guidance to team members, handles escalated issues, and performs billing, payment, account review, and reporting tasks. The role also supports Tenet Physician Resources’ mission, policies, privacy requirements, and corporate compliance program.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
At least five years of experience working in medical billing.
Knowledge of the accounts receivable collection process.
Knowledge of the Red Flag rules.
Knowledge of electronic health systems.
Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a billing or coding program preferred.

Responsibilities

Adhere to and support Tenet Physician Resources’ mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures.
Follow the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
Support the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by understanding and following applicable laws, regulations, policies, and the Code of Conduct, and reporting compliance concerns appropriately.
Provide direction and guidance to less experienced team members.
Recognize and recommend areas for improvement.
Assist with scheduling and coordinating team activities.
Handle escalated and unresolved issues from less experienced representatives.
Enter charges in a timely manner.
File claims and run or work audit trails daily.
Process ERAs, payments, and adjustments.
Balance daily activity and prepare and send the Batch Cover Sheet to the Director and accounting.
Audit patient financial data up to two days before visits to ensure front office staff collect copayments and balances due at the time of service.
Review and work delinquent insurance and patient balances.
Work credit balances.
Run reports as requested by management or accounting.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
