About The Position

Become a Bilingual Unemployment Compensation Intake Interviewer at the Scranton Unemployment Compensation Service Center (UCSC) and support individuals seeking financial stability. In this position, you will assist Spanish speaking claimants and help them navigate the process of filing for benefits. Requirements

  • Successful completion of the Unemployment Compensation Intake Interviewer Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) program; or Three years of customer service or office support experience which includes two years of experience resolving customer impact issues; or Any equivalent combination of experience or training which includes two years of experience resolving customer impact issues.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in Spanish.
  • Pass a Spanish speaking proficiency evaluation conducted by the Bureau of Talent Acquisition, PA Office of Administration.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading and writing in Spanish during the probationary period.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment, including a fingerprint-based federal records check, a PA State Police clearance, a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years, and a citizenship/residency verification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews with claimants by telephone to gather information for initial, continued, or additional unemployment claims
  • Operate computer programs to enter data, update records, build claims, and identify issues that may affect eligibility
  • Advise claimants of their rights and responsibilities under Pennsylvania Unemployment Compensation Law
  • Review forms and contact claimants, employers, or service centers to clarify data and ensure complete claim documentation
  • Identify monetary and non monetary issues, make necessary adjustments, and refer claims to appropriate units for further action
  • Prepare, update, and organize claim information in computerized systems and agency forms
