About The Position

The Membership Coordinator – Hispanic Growth (Bilingual) is a community-embedded, relationship-driven role focused on expanding Girl Scout membership across Latin and Hispanic communities within a geographic region. Serving as a trusted connector and advocate, this position recruits girls and adult volunteers, launches and sustains troops, and ensures families and volunteers experience Girl Scouts as culturally relevant, accessible, and empowering. Grounded in the GSUSA Community Engagement Model and GSNETX’s commitment to equity and Unreasonable Hospitality, the Membership Coordinator builds deep relationships with families, schools, faith-based organizations, and community partners. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure recruitment, onboarding, placement, and volunteer support are seamless—and that Latin and Hispanic girls see themselves reflected, welcomed, and supported in Girl Scouts.

Requirements

  • Bilingual (Spanish) required.
  • Spanish Proficiency: Fluent/Native Speaker.
  • May be required to pass a written and oral skills test.
  • Experience in community engagement, youth development, or membership recruitment
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust in diverse communities
  • Knowledge of Latin and Hispanic cultures, traditions, and community structures
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in one or more of the following: Community engagement outreach, or partnership development; Membership growth, recruitment, sales, or customer acquisition; Education, youth-serving nonprofits, family-facing services, or volunteer-based organizations; Relationship building, coaching, and trust-building; CRM role, requiring documentation, follow-up, and accuracy.
  • Once hired, must hold membership in the Girl Scout organization and subscribe to the tenets of the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
  • Complete and pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required; an equivalent 2 to 4 years of relevant experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Grow girl and adult membership within Latin and Hispanic communities through culturally responsive engagement and recruitment.
  • Serve as a trusted, bilingual point of contact for Spanish-speaking families and volunteers.
  • Launch and sustain strong troops by recruiting, onboarding, and supporting troop leaders. Increase retention by ensuring volunteers feel confident, prepared, and valued.
  • Strengthen GSNETX’s presence and credibility within Hispanic communities through authentic partnerships.
  • Build authentic, long-term relationships with Latin and Hispanic families, community leaders, schools, businesses, and faith-based organizations.
  • Serve as a visible, trusted GSNETX representative at community events, school meetings, parent nights, and cultural celebrations.
  • Apply the GSUSA Community Engagement Model to understand cultural context, reduce barriers, and create welcoming entry points into Girl Scouts.
  • Provide insights to supervisor and cross-functional partners on cultural considerations, community needs, and engagement strategies.
  • Ensure GSNETX messaging and presence align with the lived experiences and expectations of Hispanic families.
  • Meet or exceed goals for new girl members and adult volunteers within assigned territory.
  • Identify and cultivate recruitment opportunities specific to Latin and Hispanic communities.
  • Recruit, onboard, and support new troop leaders—ensuring they feel confident, prepared, and supported from the start.
  • Collaborate with Director, Mission Delivery, and membership partners to design and execute troop formation plans aligned with community preferences.
  • Support the launch of new troops and the growth of existing troops to meet community demand.
  • Convert prospective families into registered members through personalized outreach, events, and follow-up.
  • Serve as the primary bilingual point of contact for Spanish-speaking volunteers and families.
  • Provide culturally relevant guidance, resources, and support to troop leaders and caregivers.
  • Advise on how training, onboarding, and communication tools can be adapted to better serve native Spanish speakers.
  • Support troop leaders with local connections, council resources, and best practices to deliver high-quality Girl Scout experiences.
  • Collaborate with retention and volunteer support partners to strengthen first-year leader success and long-term engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with Membership Recruiters to align outreach, referrals, and conversion strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with Placement to ensure accurate troop assignments and readiness.
  • Collaborate closely with Volunteer Support to align onboarding, training, and ongoing support.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Programs to ensure cookie and fall product training and communications are inclusive and accessible.
  • Collaborate closely with Girl Experience to connect new troops and families to programs that deepen engagement.
  • Share community insights that inform council-wide strategies for Hispanic growth.
  • Deliver warm, respectful, culturally responsive service in both English and Spanish.
  • Create moments of delight for families and volunteers through personalized communication and follow-up.
  • Advocate for Hispanic families and volunteers by identifying and reducing barriers within systems and processes.
  • Ensure every interaction reinforces trust, belonging, and confidence in the Girl Scout experience.
  • Maintain accurate recruitment, placement, and support records in Salesforce.
  • Monitor dashboards and reports to track progress toward membership and conversion goals.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries and document all interactions and outcomes.
  • Support regional planning and reporting as needed.
