Tulsa Honor Academy is hiring a Bilingual First Grade Teacher for the 2027–2028 school year. The teacher advances THA’s mission by delivering a standards-aligned curriculum and continually improving instructional practice through feedback and support. THA’s new elementary school will use a college-preparatory dual-language model in which scholars develop biliteracy and learn to read, write, and think critically in both Spanish and English. Teachers intentionally plan language opportunities, treat all scholars as language learners, and maintain high expectations for language development. The teacher builds a structured, productive, safe, and developmentally appropriate classroom where scholars participate, follow consistent routines, engage in meaningful work, and develop positive habits. Instruction develops foundational literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, and social-emotional skills through intentional planning, age-appropriate learning goals, direct instruction, hands-on learning, and meaningful connections. The teacher uses formal and informal data and assessments to monitor progress, support mastery, and help scholars understand and achieve rigorous learning goals. Scholars are expected to actively explore ideas, complete the cognitive work, discuss ideas with peers, and demonstrate understanding in multiple ways. The role also includes collaborating with teammates and families, contributing to shared school culture, responding productively to feedback and coaching, and maintaining a solutions-oriented commitment to continuous improvement. Teachers receive regular observations and coaching from an Assistant Principal or Principal. The position is full-time, exempt, follows THA’s academic calendar, and reports to the school’s Principal. Additional duties may include arrival, recess, lunch, and dismissal duty.
