About The Position

Tulsa Honor Academy (THA) is hiring a First Grade Teacher for the 2027–2028 school year. The teacher advances THA’s mission by implementing a standards-aligned curriculum and continuously improving instructional practice through feedback and support. THA’s new elementary school will use a college-preparatory dual-language model in which scholars develop biliteracy and learn to read, write, and think critically in both Spanish and English. The teacher plans intentionally for language development and provides rigorous, foundational instruction in literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, and social-emotional skills. The role includes creating a structured, productive, safe, inclusive, and joyful classroom; supporting developmentally appropriate routines and positive habits; and engaging scholars in meaningful cognitive work, discussion, hands-on learning, and academic risk-taking. Teachers use formal and informal assessment data to monitor progress, communicate learning goals, and help scholars demonstrate mastery. Teachers are expected to collaborate with teammates and families, uphold school-wide systems and culture, respond productively to feedback, and continually improve their craft. The teacher receives regular observations and coaching from an Assistant Principal or Principal and reports to the school’s Principal. The role follows THA’s Academic Calendar and is full-time and exempt.
