Bilingual Chinese and English Outreach Outreach Worker (Spring 2026)
About The Position
APEN seeks to hire a team of outreach workers to participate in APEN’s civic engagement programs. This is a temporary non-exempt part-time position. This program’s goal is to increase the civic participation of low-income Asian immigrant communities in California. Outreach Workers will be talking to voters and convincing them to complete a survey on environmental justice issues that impact poor people, immigrants, and communities of color in California. This position is part-time starting May 14th and ending on Jun 2nd, 2026 with days/times to be determined, most likely Monday through Thursday 4pm-8pm. The hourly rate is $23. This position will not include benefits with the exception of sick pay and an internet and phone stipend based on hours worked at the end of the program.
Requirements
- Commitment to the mission and principles of APEN and to social justice.
- Fluent in English, Cantonese and/or Mandarin.
- Strong motivation and adaptability, including ability to work under pressure and with deadlines.
- Basic computer skills, ability to complete web forms.
- Able to work weekdays and potentially weekends.
- Have access to a computer and stable internet for our phone banking program
- Ability to come in-person to one of APEN’s offices to show I-9 Documentation
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in Asian immigrant communities.
- Able to give and receive constructive feedback.
Responsibilities
- Talk to up to 40 people per shift about issues facing low-income communities.
- Data entry of phonebanking results.
- Complete accurate daily reports.
