About The Position

The Big Al's Attendant greets customers, answers questions, takes orders and payments, and prepares and serves food and drinks. The role is expected to present a friendly and professional image at the Hotel/Casino and provide excellent guest service while following Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort policies and procedures.

The position has no supervisory responsibilities. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, and be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations. Applicants must complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Oaklawn states its intent to provide a drug-free, healthy, safe, and secure environment for Team Members.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to handle several projects and tasks at the same time.
• Must be able to perform the physical job duties of Food & Beverage team members.
• Must be able to interact with guests, staff, and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts diplomatically and tactfully.
• Ability to read and interpret documents in English, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read and communicate verbally in English; written communication skills in English may also be required.
• Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.
• Must complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in food and beverage preparation preferred.
• Guest service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enthusiastically support, actively promote, and demonstrate superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
• Maintain strict confidentiality in departmental and company matters.
• Provide impeccable guest service.
• Welcome customers, inform them about specials or new items, answer questions, and accept orders and payments.
• Serve food, drinks, and other items to customers.
• Package food and prepare beverages according to customer requests for sale.
• Clean and restock the work area and dining area; empty trash; and sanitize equipment and utensils.
• Learn food preparation and presentation techniques to improve food quality.
• Update signage and displays to attract customers.
• Take inventory and replenish items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and quality controls.
• Follow established Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort procedures and policies.
