About The Position

The Department of Vermont Health Access (DVHA) is seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Benefit Program Mentor to join a dynamic team within the Health Access Eligibility and Enrollment Unit (HAEEU). This role serves as the primary point of contact for all matters related to Vermont Health Connect (VHC) and Green Mountain Care (GMC), addressing complex inquiries, assisting staff, and supporting customers. The position offers a strong work-life balance with a Monday-Friday schedule, a hybrid work environment, eleven paid state holidays, and a robust benefits package.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher AND six (6) months or more of experience as a VT Healthcare Service Specialist (previously titled Benefits Program Specialist)
  • OR High School diploma or equivalent AND one (1) or more years of experience as a VT Healthcare Service Specialist (previously a Benefits Program Specialist)
  • Must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
  • Private transportation must be available for necessary travel.

Responsibilities

  • Process cases regularly in all VHC and GMC programs.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for staff inquiries regarding eligibility, rules, policies, procedures, and system usage.
  • Handle escalated customer calls and conduct necessary follow-up calls.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and training to staff, utilizing data to plan and tailor support sessions.
  • Offer instruction, observe work, and provide feedback.
  • Review recorded calls and provide phone coaching.
  • Follow up to reinforce learned material.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives by analyzing system and process performance, identifying trends, and recommending enhancements.
