About The Position

BGC Weston Mount Dennis & Lawrence Heights Club serves children and youth in the Weston Mount Dennis, Lawrence Heights, and surrounding communities by providing high-quality social, physical, educational, creative, and community-based programming. We are seeking passionate, motivated individuals to join our team as Youth Mentors for the 2026–2027 school year. This role supports youth aged 13–17 years old through structured programming, mentorship, leadership development, and community engagement.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Recreation, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth in community or educational settings.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience delivering structured youth programming.
  • HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification.
  • Standard First Aid & CPR-C Certification.
  • Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (required upon hiring).
  • Must be available Monday to Friday between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
  • Occasional evenings, training sessions, PA Days, and special events may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience facilitating structured, curriculum-based youth programs using pre-developed manuals, toolkits, or program guides.
  • Experience delivering cooking or life-skills programming.
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience working within anti-oppressive and anti-racist frameworks.
  • Experience supporting diverse and equity-deserving youth populations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily delivery of youth programming at both the Weston Mount Dennis Youth Centre and Humber Youth Program.
  • Facilitate structured programming using BGC Canada-approved frameworks, including but not limited to: This Way Onward, Learn ON, Respect 2 Connect, R2 Resilience Approach.
  • Support and lead Thursday programming at Humber Youth, including the Master Chef cooking program, promoting life skills, teamwork, and healthy habits.
  • Deliver engaging, inclusive, and culturally responsive programming aligned with youth development outcomes.
  • Co-create programming based on youth interests and emerging community needs.
  • Build meaningful and professional relationships with youth participants.
  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Support youth leadership, confidence building, and personal development.
  • Support external facilitators, community partners, and guest speakers during programming and events.
  • Assist with program logistics to ensure smooth and effective delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Youth Coordinator to support planning and community outreach initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records including attendance, incident reports, and program documentation.
  • Support tracking of program materials and inventory.
  • Complete required reports, surveys, and evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure program spaces are safe, clean, and organized at all times.
  • Follow all Club policies, procedures, and health & safety standards.
  • Respond to incidents and emergencies in accordance with training and protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and leadership teams.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and Club-wide initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
