About The Position

ARISE is looking for a Benefits Coordinator responsible for the day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs. This role ensures that all benefits are accurately processed, compliant with regulations, and accessible to employees. The Benefits Coordinator will also assist the Human Resources Manager with human resources projects as requested.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in HR preferred.
  • 3-5 years of benefits experience required (other HR experience considered).
  • Understanding of OPWDD regulations helpful.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws required.
  • Strong technology skills.
  • Team Player.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all Department of Labor, IRS, EEOC, OSHA, ADA, FMLA, ERISA and other regulations, requirements, and documentation.
  • Comply with all State and Federal regulations as applicable (COBRA, HIPPA, OSHA 300, etc.).
  • Maintain LENS program and contact employees regarding issues with their DMV record.
  • Perform data entry of agency information in a timely manner.
  • Pull files for terminated employees (medical, training, performance, personnel) and place them in the appropriate year cabinet or box.
  • Act as back-up for Human Resources Supervisor in her/his absence, when necessary.
  • Maintain monthly EPStaffcheck verification.
  • Interact with all employees regarding human resources issues as requested by the Human Resources Manager.
  • Bring relevant operational issues that involve policy development, strategic planning, or other operational issues to Human Resources Manager.
  • Perform miscellaneous human resources projects as requested.
  • Coordinate and ensure benefit enrollment process for all new hires who are eligible upon hire.
  • Coordinate and ensure benefit enrollment for all variable hour employees, who become eligible through the ACA measurement periods.
  • Follow up on and resolve employee benefit questions, connecting with the broker for claims concerns and issues.
  • Reconcile benefit invoices for HRD approval and submission to Finance.
  • Coordinate EDI feeds for Benefit Plans.
  • Conduct Open Enrollment and Special Enrollment for employees with qualifying events.
  • Coordinate leave of absence programs including FMLA, PFL, Prenatal Leave, Disability, Workers Compensation.
  • Review/approval of ETO and NYS Sick Leave for DSPs.
  • Documentation of leave of absences including eligibility, ongoing monitoring of leave hours available, records management including medical documentation.
  • Review incoming unemployment claims.
  • Review claims and monthly reports with HRD.
  • File notice of protest within the required timeframe.
  • Coordinate witness attendance for hearings, attending in addition to or as designee for HRD.
  • Ongoing monitoring of ACA compliance.
  • Input of updates to employee data - medical leave dates, changes of status impacting benefits (FT to PT, PT to FT).
  • Prenatal Leave approvals and assistance with other medical leave related accrual questions/issues.
