The Benefits Assistant III assists faculty and staff with benefit-related questions and processes routine benefit transactions. Requirements

  • High School diploma and 2 years of relevant experience required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Conducts multiple plan audits for billing remittance to identify eligibility and contribution discrepancies, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the remittance process, Plan rules and data processes.
  • Monitors, tracks, audits and maintains records, reports, and statistics for the University benefit programs.
  • Reviews and resolves issues identified through the remittance and Plan audits.
  • Coordinates with internal departments, as well as the Plan Record keeper, as needed to identify issues and ensure compliance.
  • Processes benefits remittance payments each pay period or month depending on the benefit.
  • Identifies and resolves any discrepancies or issues related to the remittance payments.
  • Coordinates with internal departments and external vendors to resolve issues.
  • Researches, resolves and responds to issues/problems effecting faculty, staff and retirees’ benefits.
  • Communicates with internal departments and external vendors to ensure accuracy in administrative functions.
  • Provides information based on knowledge of the plans, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Coordinates with internal departments and external vendors to develop the remittance calendar on an annual basis.
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the remittance process as related to Payroll processes, data and file sharing, as well as vendor functions.
  • Takes responsibility for monitoring the calendar throughout the year, identifying and resolving potential issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
