About The Position

Trinity Recovery Home is seeking a compassionate and skilled Behavioral Health Counselor to join their mission-driven team. This role involves conducting assessments, developing individualized service plans, facilitating therapy sessions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI). The position emphasizes a client-centered approach, blending neuroscience with evidence-based practices, and utilizing strength-based assessments and treatment plans. The ideal candidate is creative, energetic, flexible, and dedicated to improving participant experience and resilience through collaborative care and integrated family systems.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field
  • Licensed or license-eligible in Arizona (LMSW, LAC, LCSW, LPC, LMFT preferred)
  • At least one (1) year of experience working with SMI adults or in a BHRF or behavioral health setting
  • Knowledge of AHCCCS and Arizona BHRF documentation and service standards
  • CPR/First Aid, TB Test, and Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (or ability to obtain prior to hire)
  • Strong clinical documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Licensed by Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family, and/or Substance Abuse.
  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or a related human service field.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial behavioral health assessments and psychosocial evaluations.
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized service plans (ISPs) in compliance with AHCCCS/BHRF requirements.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions focused on emotional regulation, coping strategies, and behavior management.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership, case managers, caregivers, and family members to coordinate care.
  • Document all clinical services and encounters using appropriate behavioral health documentation standards.
  • Participate in weekly staffing's and care planning meetings.
  • Support crisis interventions and behavioral de-escalation when needed.
  • Monitor progress and adjust therapeutic strategies based on client response.
