Requirements

  • Graduation from university at the bachelor level in psychology, social work or education with specific knowledge regarding behavioural and mental health challenges.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of positive support, behaviour management strategies, applied behaviour analysis and crisis intervention is desirable.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
  • Additional training in applied behavior analysis is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and provision of services and activities to directly assist school teams in supporting students with challenging behaviour such that it does not impede the teaching and learning process in the classroom.
  • Assisting school personnel in the provision of direct services to students through evidence-based interventions and strategies to accomplish the desired end.
  • Providing training to school personnel in areas such as conflict management, anger management, observation techniques and teaching social skills.
  • Developing strategies to keep students retention to promote positive social and communication skill development in students, as well as support the school team in developing positive learning environment initiatives.
  • Conducting individual or group interventions.
  • Supporting teachers in behaviour management.
  • Collaborating with various professionals in the school system and in the community, such as teachers, school psychologists, social workers, probation officers and mental health professionals.
  • Participating in case management and case conferencing in the development of intervention plans for behaviour management plans.
  • Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.
