Behavioral Programming Specialist
About The Position
The Psychology Department at J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center provides comprehensive behavior analysis and support, along with psychological services, to residents. These services encompass behavioral assessment and treatment, staff training in behavior support, participation in interdisciplinary teams, consultation with staff, and psychological testing and evaluation. The department also offers clinical and management consulting to external entities serving individuals with intellectual and related developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder. Under clinical supervision, the behavioral programming specialist will assist in providing assessment and treatment services to approximately 25 residents with significant intellectual and related developmental disabilities. This includes aiding in behavior assessments, participating in interdisciplinary team processes, assisting licensed psychologists or behavior analysts in planning and evaluating treatment programs, tracking and ensuring the quality of treatment programs, and helping to provide staff training.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in psychology including coursework in behavior modification from an appropriately accredited institution; or
- Bachelor's degree in child development, social work, education, nursing, or closely related degree including coursework in behavior modification from an appropriately accredited institution and six months of experience in a developmental center or developmental disability setting; or
- Associate's degree in human services area from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience providing assessment of adaptive developmental and social behavior, goal writing, collecting and interpreting behavioral data, and developing and implementing behavior modification programs; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Knowledge and basic skills in assessment of intellectual disorders and related developmental disabilities in terms of behavioral observations and evaluation of treatment/behavior support plans.
- Knowledge and basic skills in assessment and treatment of learning and behavior disorders.
- Knowledge in the principles underlying the development of adaptive behavior and basic skills in the application of this knowledge to the learning problems of persons with significant learning and behavior disorders.
- Ability to conduct training to train staff on treatment/behavior support plans.
- Knowledge of general ethical, clinical, administrative and social policy issues in intellectual disorders and related developmental disabilities and ability to relate these issues to concepts and practices at the Center.
